Dear Resident This morning, officers from the Saddleworth Neighbourhood Policing Team attended an incident on Manchester Road, Greenfield, where a member of the public was attacked by a dog that was not being kept on a lead. The victim sustained a number of nasty injuries and received appropriate assistance at the scene. A man was arrested a short time after the incident at a nearby location under the dangerous dogs act for allowing his dog to be dangerously our of control in a public place. This incident serves as an important reminder to all dog owners of their responsibilities when exercising their pets in public spaces. Dogs should be kept on a lead where appropriate and always under control, particularly in areas where there are pedestrians, children, cyclists and other animals. Even the most friendly and well-behaved dogs can act unpredictably in certain circumstances. Keeping your dog under control helps protect members of the public, other animals and your pet itself from harm. We would ask all dog owners to be responsible and considerate when out in the community and to ensure they comply with any local restrictions regarding dog control. By working together, we can help keep Saddleworth and Lees safe and enjoyable for everyone. Saddleworth Neighbourhood Policing Team
